Encore Senior Leadership Evanston - Sponsored byThree Crowns Park

Encore Senior Leadership Evanston is for local residents who are retired or making the transition to retirement and want to serve Evanston as leaders. Encore Senior Leadership Evanston is about “stage” in life, not simply age, and participants range from those in their 50’s through their 80’s.  Encore Senior Leadership Evanston benefits the community by tapping into the experience and energy of seniors, while benefiting seniors who research shows are more optimistic and healthier when they volunteer.

Program participants meet in 10 sessions throughout Evanston to experience its diverse resources.  Each location has sufficient parking and easy access.  Participants will visit community organizations, meet with local leaders, and participate in skill development exercises.

Encore Senior Leadership in 2010 will be held every Wednesday from 10am - 2pm from April 14 - June 16. Lunch will be provided.

2010 application is now available!

“I learned more about our city and the options available to citizens in this class than I learned in the last 40 years,” says Rose Boynton, a graduate of the inaugural class of 2004.  Alumni of that group have become involved in the YWCA’s Battered Women’s Shelter, tutor and teach English to Spanish speakers, and registered voters, among other new activities. Some continue to work together to create a gateway project to the Evanston community honoring our Native American heritage.

A special tuition rate of $350, which covers program materials, continental breakfast and lunch each session, is made possible by the sponsorship of Three Crowns Park. Scholarships are available.
